Fully erect... !

Ok... so we were practicing the art of putting the tent up and this time I remembered to take some pics of it all set up!

It's here at last!

Well its been a long 4 weeks but our new car tent arrived today!

After much thought about where to stay whilst we're trekking the countryside we settled on the roof tent.  Partly because it is cheaper but also because we both like to sleep in our "own" bed rather than a motel bed and this way we get to take our bed with us.  We could have gone the regular on the ground tent but I have to say the idea of sleeping up high is much more attractive (no chance of a visit by a friendly snake!) It also has the bonus of being able to be packed with our bedding still inside so gives us more storage space in the car for other things.  It also gives us a lot more freedom to stop when and where we feel like it and not be tied to trying to find pet friendly motel style accommodation.

It is an ebay special but seems quite well made. It took a bit of sweat and swearing to get it put together but once installed on the car the actual set up and put down of the tent is really very quick and easy.

We will get to try it out on the drive over to Canberra and then during the four days we will be camped at the Royal Showgrounds!

Unfortunately I didn't think to get the camera out until after the installation was nearly complete  :(

But some photos anyway...

Here it is on the roof with Glenn just finishing tightening the bolts that hold it to the roof rack.

And again all packed and ready to go.

Testing - one... two... three...

Well... here goes.

After thoroughly enjoying reading of Cowpats travels I have decided to keep a blog of our own epic trip to the Border Collie National.

We depart on 21/2/09 and will return in early April. Planned route is across the middle of Oz then up into the Snowy mountains before heading back along the Victorian coast to Adelaide via Melbourne. We have 11 shows planned along the way tho I have no idea how we are going to keep the dogs presentable spending so long on the road.

At this stage I am not sure exactly which furry friends will be traveling with us - it all depends on who is the furriest! :p - Those in the shortlist are Portia, Tag, Billy, Jodi, Jules, Luc, Phoebe, Trixx, Otto and of course Mia.

So much to do and so little time...
